Signed PDF File is Unlocked

Hello!  For some Senders, the signed and downloaded PDF document is unlocked.  The blue Signature Panel ribbon indicating whether all signatures are valid is missing. These users are able to manipulate the document, reorganize the pages and save, not “Save as” the changes using Adobe Acrobat Pro.  This should not happen.  Any ideas?  Is there some DocuSign setting that is turned off for them or should be turned on for all Senders?

We understand that some Senders can manipulate the signed and downloaded PDF document and save the changes using Adobe Acrobat Pro. I noted that the Signature Panel ribbon indicating the validity of all signatures is missing. You're wondering if a DocuSign setting needs to be adjusted. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you.

 

Adobe is an external software, so we do not have any control over what the sender or recipient does after downloading the PDF. However,  Docusign automatically applies a Docusign seal to any PDFs downloaded from a customer’s Docusign eSignature account to ensure document integrity and validity.  Any modification to the document after download causes the Docusign seal to break.

 

I have some questions:

Are senders able to modify the downloaded PDF when combined or downloaded separately? Article: Download Documents

The Administrator may need to disable: Allow agreements to download without the Docusign seal: The option will appear in Admin->Signing Settings->under Envelope Download ->Allow Agreements to download without the Docusign Seal.

Note: The Administrator would need to contact support if they do not have this option:  Open a case in the Docusign Support Center.
