Pre-select Recipients and Assign Them to Upload Requests in Workspaces

Problem

In Docusign Workspaces, Workspace Templates allow administrators to define Upload Requests (required documents, instructions, etc.).
However, recipients cannot be pre-configured or assigned to these upload requests in the template.

As a result:

• Recipients must be manually added every time a workspace is created

• Upload requests must be manually reassigned, which is error-prone

• Standardized, repeatable intake processes are difficult to enforce

This limits scalability and automation for enterprise use cases.

Proposed Enhancement

Allow recipient selection and assignment at the Workspace Template level.

Option 1 – Role-based assignment 

• Define roles in the Workspace Template (e.g. Customer, Legal, Finance)

• Assign each Upload Request to a role

• At workspace creation time:

  • The creator selects recipients for each role

  • Upload requests are automatically assigned

Option 2 - Allow workspace creators to select one or more upload requests and assign them to a single recipient who is already shared in the workspace or from contacts,… .

Key capabilities

• Multi-select upload requests (checkbox or bulk action)

• Assign selected upload requests to:

  • One existing workspace member

  • A newly added recipient

• Option to assign:

  • All upload requests to one recipient

  • Only selected upload requests
