I signed up, and then hoped that it enabled me to see the documents that I signed when onboarding a startup 1.5 years ago. I thought that creating an account would give me the history at least that far back. What is it that an account provides? Is there some glitch?

DocuSign cannot track things on your account that happened before your account existed. It can only track things that occur after the account was opened.
Also, you posted in the ‘get inspiration’ section, rather than ‘get help’ (‘get help’ is for questions, ‘inspiration’ is for ideas to improve DocuSign. People may not have seen your question because of this)
