The date signed field is a popular choice for your documents! You can add it to your envelope documents to display the date each recipient signs the document. But did you know you can customize the format of your date signed field?

To customize the format of the date signed field, navigate to your eSignature Admin tab > Signing Settings > Look under the Document Formatting section.

Here you can customize the format of the date signed field. You can choose from a variety of formats. For example: MM/DD/YYYY, DD/MM/YYYY, January 1st 2026, etc.

You can also select if you’d like to display the time of signature. If so, there are many time formats to choose from. For example: 2:59pm, 14:59, etc.

If you choose to spell out the month name and/or display the time of signature, you’ll want to visit your account’s regional settings. Within the regional settings, you can choose a few options related to the date signed field:

  1. When using the Date Signed field, which language should be used for month names?
    1. You can choose to base the language off of the recipient (this only applies if the recipient you are sending to has a Docusign account, it uses the language based on their account) OR base the language off of your account default defined in the regional settings
  2. When using the Date Signed field, which Time Zone should be used?
    1. You can choose to base the time zone off of the recipient (this only applies if the recipient you are sending to has a Docusign account, it uses the time zone based on their account) OR base the time zone off of your account default defined in the regional settings
