The error message says “OAUTH_APPROVAL_ERROR_GENERIC : An unexpected error has occured during authentication. Please try again.”
We’re seeing this issue as well. Started yesterday and not sure how to resolve. Following

We are also having this issue. Following.
Docusign updated their security settings yesterday. We fixed our issues by doing the following (you have to be an admin for Docusign in Salesforce):
- In Salesforce, click the cog and navigate to Settings.
- In search, type “OAuth” and select “Connected Apps OAuth Usage
- Find Docusign and select the “Manage App Policies” hyperlink
- Select “Edit Policies”
- Under OAuth Policies > Permitted Users and set it to “Admin approved users are pre-authorized”
- Click Save
- Scroll down and select “Manage Profiles” in the profiles section and allow the profiles for your senders
- Click “Save”
- Have one of your users (non-Salesforce Docusign admins) test if they can send docs again
I hope this helps everyone experiencing the issues!
Same issue in our environment as well. Any updates on this? We have raised a case and waiting for an update.

I dont see the option for “Manage App Policies” under Docusign in the Connected Apps OAuth Usage section.
It is in the middle of the row. If you can’t see it, you may need to check with the Admin that installed the package or delete it and reinstall if they no longer work there.

- Do you have admin privileges to install or edit packages?
- Can you see Docusign in your packages at all?
Yes I am an Admin.
Nevermind, I had to zoom out to see install and I was able to install and get this working. Thank you
We were experiencing the same issue, and after doing the above our DocuSign Gen is no longer working. When users try to generate a contract in Salesforce, it just leads to a blank screen.
Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution?
Following the steps here resolved my issue related to OAUTH_APPROVAL_ERROR_GENERIC:

New Approve Uninstalled Connected Apps user permission
This new user permission is automatically assigned to the System Administrator standard profile. Custom profiles aren’t automatically updated, including those previously cloned from the System Administrator standard profile.
After the connected app usage restriction is enforced in September 2025, this user permission grants access to use uninstalled connected apps, bypassing the new usage restriction. It should only be assigned to highly trusted users, such as administrators and those involved in managing or testing connected app integrations.
We recommend using care when assigning this user permission. For example, only grant to admin users and to users who manage connected app integrations and need to test the apps before installing on the org for access by other end users.
Hi all,
I’ve applied the above fix in my sandbox (had to click Install first to see the manage OAuth options).
Would this stop users from having to keep re-authorising their connection if I do the same in production? I’ll be updating our DAL version soon and want to know if pre-authorising certain profiles avoids this, since I had to re-authorise DocuSign when testing in sandbox.
Thanks!

Hi @ Cviresmith, rparks, Swethamandadi, brianofrokk3r,
I see that the suggested solution worked. Thanks for the update.
Hi @anonymouse1, vmuthu, l.smith, may you please try and see if the suggested solution will work? Let me know if you still need further assistance with this. Thank you!
Hi
Important Note:
Any changes to OAuth App policies will revoke existing user tokens. If you encounter an error such as “You have not granted or have revoked your consent to be impersonated by DocuSign Apps Launcher”, your users will need to refresh their consent flow.

Hello everyone,
But what if the connected app itself is missing? I’ve installed the DocuSign App Launcher package today, wanted to connect SF to DocuSign by following the steps described above, but the DocuSign connected app is missing on both Manage Connected Apps tab and Connected Apps OAuth Usage. It’s just not on the list.
My admin user has the Approve Uninstalled Connected Apps permission assigned.
UPD: Never mind, I’ve resolved this by connecting from DocuSign to Salesforce first. After this the connected app appeared on the list.
Best regards,
Alex
