Hi Community,

I have four DocuSign tabs mapped from Salesforce merge fields:

  • Text Fields A, B, C

  • Checkbox D

All fields are optional by default.

Validation Needed

  • If the signer fills any one of Text Fields A/B/C → all three must be filled

  • OR the signer can simply select Checkbox D

  • Leaving all fields blank is allowed

  • Partial entry in A/B/C is not allowed

Question

What is the best DocuSign way to enforce this signer-time validation?

Can this be achieved using Conditional Rules, or is another approach recommended?

(Screenshot attached for reference.)

Thanks!

Hello @somanikd22,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Docusign Community—great to have you here!

I did some testing and was able to enforce this behavior using Conditional logic rules. I hope this approach fits your use case.

I worked with four fields: Text Fields A, B, and C (set as required) and one checkbox.

Step 1:

  • Select Text Field A and use it as the trigger field.
  • In the Properties panel, expand Conditional Logic and click Create Rule.
  • In the rule settings (gear icon), choose Any Text.
  • Select Text Fields B and C as the fields affected by the rule, then click Done.

With this setup, when a signer enters any value in Field A, Fields B and C appear and are required.

Step 2:

  • Select the checkbox, then click Create Rule.
  • Set the condition to Unchecked.
  • Select Text Field A as the affected field and click Done.

This way, when the signer selects the checkbox, Text Fields A, B, and C are hidden.

I hope this helps. If you feel my suggested solution has helped you, we would greatly appreciate it if you could mark it as "Best Answer" ✅ to help other community members find trusted answers and follow similar steps. Let us know if you need further assistance—we're here for you!
