Is it possible to add a recipient role just for review of documents (with no need to sign) before a 2nd recipient who needs to sign?

If the reviewer does not agree with the document content he needs to be able to reject the envelope and the 2nd signer should not get the envelope for signature in that case.

I looked at the Needs to view option but don’t see how you can reject if the reviewer does not agree with the document content.

Hello @IngeN

Welcome to DocuSign Community!

I hope you are doing great. Once you set the one recipient as “Need to view” and also set the signing order so that got the document 1st and when they review the document will get the option of “Void” in other actions.
and then provide the reason of voiding.

Thanks!

Hi,
I have the same issue as the one raised above and don’t find the answer satisfying since the Signer receives the email requesting to sign directly when the reviewer with “Need to view” opens the document. With long documents we could end up with the signer signing the document before the reviewers gets the time to read it fully.

The reviewer might also want to review it in several steps so he should be able to close the document without either accepting it nor rejecting it.

Adding a delay between the reviewer and signer somehow solves the first issue but not the second.

Hello @PDC

You may try this instead. Manage an Envelope With Conditional Recipients.

When you send an envelope with conditional recipients, the envelope details view updates as the recipients complete their actions.

Upon sending the envelope, the details view shows the conditional recipient as a link, which you can click to review the group.

conditionalrecipientenvelopedetailsinitialstate.png?token=eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiIsInR5cCI6IkpXVCJ9.eyJjdXN0b21lciI6ImRvY3VzaWduX3Byb2R1Y3Rpb24iLCJleHAiOjE3NTQzNTE5ODMsInNoZWFmIjoiZ2F2MTY0MzY3NjI2MjQzMCJ9.N4399KgbXz-74iVobDGas29yCgrju0qmQgTpPnMswsQ&_LANG=enus

Once the recipient who is assigned the field with the conditional routing logic completes the envelope, the system evaluates the field value and routes the envelope in accordance with the routing rules. The details view updates to reflect which conditional recipient was assigned to the envelope.

Thanks, I don’t think it solves my issue though.
I don’t want to decide who signs after review, I want to allow the reviewer to reject or approve the document and for the signer to be able to sign only after the document is approved.

My solution for now :  put both the signer and reviewer as Signer (with signing order) but the reviewer only has a blank field as “signature”.

@PDC We use the “Set signing order” feature, and assign the reviewer to the first position as “Needs to sign”. We only add the Approve button for them, which does not mark the document with anything, but will hold the document in the reviewer’s court until they approve it, as you stated you would like. Once approved it will route to your other signers in order.

The Approve button can be found by scrolling to the bottom of the signature “standard fields”.

We also don’t want the reviewer to decline the document, as it will void the envelope and we would have to start over. Instead we added a note and have trained them to message us if the document needs to be corrected and not to approve/decline it. This way you are able to swap out the document if any corrections are necessary. This will only work for the first signing order position, once it leaves their court, the document can no longer be swapped out.

I hope this helps with what you were looking for.

Thanks for your feedback. I don’t see any Approve field though. See attachment.
Any idea how to activate it ?

Hmmm… If you scroll down more, are there other options? Or perhaps try using the search at the top?

I searched further and it looks like that button might only be available on Business Pro plans or above. :(
