Does anyone know if the folder security that is set up during the workflow configuration follows the folder when you move it?  I don’t think it does but would like to have it do so.  Is there a way to keep the security settings on a folder no matter where it is moved?

Thanks.

Hi @newtoclm !

Thanks for your question on Community!

In CLM.DS, if your folder has an explicit security level, i.e., manually set folder permissions and override inheritance (breaking the relationship with the parent), the security settings will also be moved along with the folder, remaining exactly as defined.

However, if your folder has an inherited security level (default setting), i.e., is a "child folder" of another folder with a defined security level, when moving this child folder only, the security level will not be moved, applying the new security level to the new destination parent folder.

In short, if you need to move folders and maintain their security level, my recommendation is that you manually apply the security level to them before moving. Let me share two articles to provide you more information about this topic:

I hope that answered your question!

Hi @newtoclm,

Welcome!

In DocuSign, folder security settings are typically tied to the folder itself rather than its location. If you move a folder within your DocuSign account, the security settings associated with that folder should remain intact.

However, it's always a good practice to double-check the security settings after moving a folder to ensure that they are still configured as intended. Some folders have inherited security settings, so be careful when moving a child folder.

Additionally, make sure you update any mappings or workflows linked to the folder.

Hope this helps!
