Hey there,

I can’t imagine I’m alone in this, but it looks like it’s only been asked once before on the forums over a year ago.

My use case is for employment documents. I’m looking for a way to create templates in Docusign that align with our clause numbering. This is important because clauses must be referenced by future addendums should anything change.

Currently, if you build a multi-level list and insert body text between them, there is no way to pick up the numbering or continue numbering. This is a functionality that exists in word document programs, but cannot be configured in Docusign.

Importing a template with a list configured as we desire results in the list starting over at 1 with each line break.

Can anyone provide any solutions or recommendations that have worked for you? I’ve opened a support ticket and spent time speaking with support but waiting to hear back.

Hello @dannyawyatt,

Thanks for reaching out to the Docusign Community. We understand the frustration, this is a known limitation with Agreements template builder. At the moment, ATB isn’t able to fully retain or continue multi‑level numbering from Word.

This behavior is already logged with our product team, and it’s planned to be addressed this year. We don’t have an exact ETA yet, but it is on the roadmap.

Thanks for your patience and understanding while we work on improving this. Let us know if there’s anything else we can help with in the meantime.
