Hello Community. I have a free DocuSign account set up and I was just about to send a contract to be signed by the recipient, however, a noticed popped up that said I’ve reached my envelope limit. I don’t understand this, since I’m supposed to be allowed 10 envelopes per month and this would be my first one.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi @shari9545,

Thank you for reaching out, and a warm welcome to the Docusign Community! We understand you're encountering a message about an envelope limit, particularly as a new sender on your DocuSign free account. I just have a few questions:

  • When did you create your account?
  • Did you sign up for a Trial Account or a Free account? The distinctions between these account types, including their respective envelope allowances, are available here: What are the differences between a Docusign Trial account, Developer account, and Free account?
  • Is the email address you used to contact us here in the Community the same email linked to the DocuSign account in question?
  • Finally, regarding the screenshot you shared showing "10 sends left," was this screenshot taken today, or was it from an earlier date?

We're looking forward to your update. Thank you!

Sincerely,

Melanie | Docusign Community Moderator

Hi Melanie.

Thank you for your reply. It seems strange that I have exceeded my allotted envelopes since I haven’t sent any yet. This is the error message I received when I tried to send an envelope:

I hope you can help me. Here are the answers to your questions. Please let me know if you need any additional information.

  • I created the account around July 2025
  •  I believe I have the free account:
  • The email address I used to contact the DocuSign community is the same email as my DocuSign account
  • The original screen shot I shared was taken when I sent my original question on 08.31.2025
