Hello @astradling,
Thank you for reaching out, and a warm welcome to the Docusign Community! Your presence here is greatly valued, and we're all about sharing knowledge and supporting each other.
I understand the issue with a signer's Date Signed timezone appearing incorrectly. We are sorry for the confusion and are definitely here to help discuss more about this topic.
The way time zones are displayed in Docusign depends on several factors
- What is being viewed
- Who is viewing the information
- The settings for the account
The time zone displayed for the Date Signed on the Signing user interface and PDF completed documents depends on the signer.
- If the signer has a Docusign account, the timezone is pulled from their My Preferences > Regional settings.
Note: All signer accounts are set to a default PST for the time zone by default.
- If the signer does not have a Docusign account, the sender's timezone from the My Preferences > Regional settings is used.
- If the sender's Admin does not allow senders to set their timezone, then the default account settings are used from Admin > Regional settings > Default Time Zone for the account.
Certificate of Completion: The sender's account time zone and date/time format settings are used.
Envelope History: When viewing History through the web console or signing user interface, the time zone used depends on the viewer:
- If the sender views the History, the sender's time zone and date/time format settings are used. If the sender’s account does not allow users to set their own time zones or date/time format, then the account settings are used.
- If the viewer has a Docusign account that allows users to set their own time zone and date/time format, then the viewer's time zone and date/time format settings are used.
- If the viewer has a Docusign account that does not allow users to set their own time zone and date/time format, then the account's time zone and date/time format settings are used.
- If the viewer does not have a Docusign account, then the sender's time zone and date/time format are used. If the sender’s account does not allow users to set their own time zones or date/time format, then the account settings are used.
Match my computer's time zone: Docusign offers an option under "My Preferences > Regional Settings" to "Match my computer's time zone" instead of selecting a specific time zone. This option only affects how dates and times are displayed within the Docusign interface and does not affect Date Signed fields in envelopes. Users must manually select a time zone using the "Specify a time zone" option to modify the time zone used for Date Signed fields.
Heads up: While updating settings after the envelope has been completed will affect the envelope history, the "Date Signed" field within the document, and the Certificate of Completion will retain the old settings. This behavior is a security measure designed to maintain the document's integrity and ensure the original signing information remains unaltered, providing a reliable audit trail.
