I’ve created a template which, depending on the situation, needs to be signed by anywhere from 1 to 4 people. Take a case where I need 2 people to sign.

So I choose “use template” and then if I only need 2 people to sign, I delete 2 of the signers. It reminds me that the fields for those signers will get removed, which is fine, and then I finalize and send my document.

The problem is that even after those 2 people sign, the workflow tracking is still waiting for “the other 2 people” (who I thought I deleted) to sign for the document to complete.

What do I need to do differently so I can have a template for up to 4 signers, but be able to use it with less than 4 signers and have the process complete?

Hello @pko,

Thank you for reaching out to the Docusign Community! We appreciate your question and want to assure you that we are fully committed to providing you with the best service possible.

I understand that you've created a template with 4 recipients. You've used the template, but since you only need two recipients to sign for the envelope you are sending, you removed the other two. However, the system still expects all four recipients to sign, which prevents the document from being marked as complete. I sincerely apologize, rest assured that I will provide my best effort to help you. I just have questions:

  • How many envelopes did you send using that Template? Is it possible that you are looking at another envelope sent?
  • Are you able to send a screenshot of the issue without sharing any Personally Identifiable Information?
  • Can you please correct the envelope and remove the other recipients? Here's the guide: Correct an Envelope

I look forward to your update. Thank you!
