I’m creating templates from documents supplied by our 3rd party partners.  Is there a way to force auto-navigation to pause on a specific page so I can alert the recipient that he/she might want to review some optional fields on that page?  I’ve tested with every Auto-Navigation option and they either skip over the page I want to pause on or they pause on EVERY page (our documents have quite a few boilerplate pages that most recipients would rather skip).  Also -- I cannot put a checkbox on the page with “I have reviewed all the fields on this page” as that would add a check to the final document which isn’t allowed.  (We take documents from 3rd party partners and make them DocuSign-able.  Their lawyers control everything about them.)  I submitted a support ticket, but there wasn’t anything the Support Rep could do.  I even enlisted the aid of Grok, but all the solutions either didn’t work or changed the document.  Any suggestions other than a new feature?  I think we need a Bookmark feature or something similar.  Thanks!

Hello @RMB,

Thank you for reaching out to the Docusign Community! We appreciate your question and want to assure you that we are fully committed to providing you with the best service possible.

I understand you are creating templates from documents supplied by third-party partners (which they control), and you would like to know if there is a way to force auto-navigation to pause on a specific page to avoid recipients skipping optional fields. I sincerely apologize for any challenges, but rest assured that I will make my best effort to help you.

Upon review, this is doable. Please see below:

Article: How do I pause auto-navigation in an envelope?

Use the Docusign Auto-Navigation feature to pause signing at a particular section of a document.

To create a bookmark in a long document:

  1. Create a document.
  2. Place a Text field where you want the signing auto-navigation to pause.
  3. Check the field settings: Required Field and Read Only.

  4. Enter a unique Data Label for each text field/bookmark used (e.g., #bookmark1 or #bookmark2).

  5. Ensure that the Admin has allowed in Signing Setting to “Navigate Required Fields."
  6. Place any other other fields on your document.
  7. Select Send.

Note: These bookmarks are transparent for the signer.

Thanks for the reply!

I believe Grok suggested the same solution but it doesn’t work.  I just ran a test.  I have the Auto-Navigation options set to “Navigate required fields” and have the Text box assigned to the desired recipient and set to Required and Read Only.  This solution fails because Auto-Navigation knows that even though the text box is Required, because is it Read Only the recipient cannot interact with it, so it is skipped.

I’ve had a little success with putting a required checkbox on the page (and hiding the result with the text color = white), but I’m not entirely happy with the results.  Maybe that’s the best we can do for now.

However … if a Note field could be made required, that might be easier to work with.  I could assign it to a recipient and the Note would say “Please review all OPTIONAL fields on this page”.  Of course, Auto-Navigation would have to handle a required Note as an exception since there is nothing the recipient needs to do other than read it -- same issue as a required read only field.

Thanks!

Hello @RMB,

Thank you for the update. After carefully reassessing the situation, you are right. The Auto-Navigation cannot be controlled like that. It can be configured to pause on all pages or to only pause on fields. It cannot be configured to pause on specific pages while skimming over others. I sincerely apologize.
