I’ve been experiencing some documents being sent to customers for signing that are having the following issue.
Placing a custom field that is checked as a “Required Field” for the customer. For example entering their Full Name or Date Signed, these fields are coming back not completed. If they are checked as a required field, why is DocuSign allowing them to finish the envelope without completing these fields?
Thanks!

Is it just the custom fields having the issue?
Date Signed should be a stamp that happens when they click to sign.
Full Name can be a standard text field.
If you’re married to the idea of the custom fields, then you can tweak their validation to require them in a particular format.
Hi and thank you for the response.
Yes, it is only the custom fields, namely the Date Entered and Enter Full Name custom fields. Other custom fields work fine.
Full Name is a standard field offered but it shows me that it is not a Required Field.
Date Signed needs to be a Required Field because they are signing Security & Fire Alarm contracts.
Not aware of having or how to tweak a custom field. I’m trying to figure out when it shows it is required by the customer to engage and fill in the field, why it’s allowing the customer to not execute those fields.
Thank you for your time!
Hello @SaltRiver,
I hope you’re doing well, and thank you for reaching out to the Docusign Community!
How about trying to delete those custom fields and create a new one?
From the Field Type, instead of using a text field, use the Date Signed and Full Name fields. These fields are required by default and automatically populate the date and recipient name.
Recipients will not be able to complete the signing process if any required fields are left blank. In such cases, they will typically get this error, for example.
If it is not behaving as expected, I would recommend that you open a support ticket so that our support team can investigate further. Open a case in the Docusign Support Center

SaltRiver, when you use the standard fields for Name and Date Signed, they generate onto the document automatically like a stamp. There’s no way to make those optional, which is why you don’t see the box to make them required. They’re automatically required just by being there.

Hey Drew,
Yes, I see that now, I was not aware of this. Thanks!
