Hello,

it it possible to prevent users to add additional fields on the document when they have the permission to add a secound email / signer to the envelope?

So prevent the user to access the full functionality of the  prepare & send

→ Just have the “Send”

Thank you in advance!

Kai

Hello @Kpogodda-AVIV,

Thank you for reaching out here in Docusign Community.

Yes, it’s possible to let users use templates but not send envelopes with the right Permission Profile settings.

Users can access templates, fill in data, and prepare envelopes. But they cannot actually send those envelopes, the Send button will be disabled or replaced with Save as Draft depending on your plan and configuration.

Another authorized sender (e.g., an admin or designated role) can review and send it later.

Here’s how you can do it:

1. Go to
Settings → Users and Groups → Permission Profiles
2. Create or Edit a Permission Profile
3. In the permission settings:

Templates: Allow “Use Shared Templates” (so they can select and fill templates)
Sending and Signing: Uncheck “Send Envelopes” or disable “Create and Send Envelopes”
4. Assign this permission profile to the users you want to restrict.

Hi @marco.tanglao ,

thanks for reaching out!
Sadly this does not totally solve the issue - we want the Sales team to modify some envelopes (for example add a 2nd signatory → Placeholder is already in the document)

But we want to avoid that additional Fields to the document or change the branding of the envelope..

Thanks for your response!!!

Kai

Hello @Kpogodda-AVIV

Thank you for update and I’m sorry to hear if the resolution I provided doesn’t work.

The goal can be achieved using Template Modification Settings.

You can go to list of your templates Edit > Advance Options > Template Modifications.

You may set up the template on how you would like the senders to use it.
