Issues with Signing Document

Forum|alt.badge.img+1

Hello,

I’m having the same issue as several others, but there does not appear to be an answer. I have the free version, after having tried the paid version. I have removed my CC so there is no payment linked to the account. I have 3 envelopes left. I do NOT need to send the document (Word file), but simply want to sign it. I add the document, select I am the only signer and receive the error message that I have exceeded envelope usage. I X out the error, as instructed to ignore the banner per another community members thread, and I get another error message. There is no way to bypass. Please advise. This is time consuming and very frustrating. Thank you for your time and help.

Hi @njslavik !

Some considerations here:

  • Free trial accounts have varying envelope limits, ranging from 2 to 10 envelopes. In addition, most trial accounts allows envelopes during 30 days only.
  • Envelopes that are signed by only you are also considered within this usage, since you had to create the envelope and "send it to yourself for signature". In this scenario, it’s different than an envelope created from another account and sent to you for signature (as recipient).

Finally, I suggest you also check Plan & Billing on Admin menu, for more details on the number of available envelopes.

Let me know if you need more assistance!

Hello,

Thank you for the reply. It’s a bit disappointing to learn there is a limit - as all of the literature/wording on the website says you can keep signing documents (not sending them) for free with the free version. And to clarify, I do have 3 envelopes left...I haven’t used any.

Also, I paid for it for one month and didn’t have to use a single envelope when I alone was simply signing a document.

I appreciate the help.

Hi @njslavik !

I understand and apologize for your dissatisfaction with this topic. Docusign allows you to have a free account to sign documents (sent from other accounts) and manage them without limits. However, when you create an envelope, even if you are the only one signing it, this can be considered a ‘send’ and will consume from our envelope allowance.

Regarding the three remaining envelopes in the Free-Trial plan, it’s also important to note that there is a 30-day limit to use them. If you are within this period and have not created any envelopes, but are still having problems using them, my suggestion would be to open a ticket with the technical support team so they can investigate and provide a solution. To open a ticket, you can access this page: https://support.docusign.com/s/contactSupport?language=en_US

Finally, I regret that I cannot help you much beyond this topic, but I am available for any further clarification.
