Dear DocuSign Support Team,

I hope this email finds you well. I have some questions regarding the comment functionality in the document review and signing process within DocuSign envelopes:

  1. Why am I unable to delete comments when reviewing documents in DocuSign envelopes?
  2. Do the comments made within the envelope workflow hold any legal value?

Currently, it is not possible to delete comments precisely because all actions must be formalized in the envelope history, and, also, recipients receive the all comments by email.

Regarding 'legal value', I would recommend you check with your legal department and analyze it on a case-by-case basis, but generally I would say "no". Comments are best used when you're signing a document and you have questions about it, or disagree with something in it, so you can communicate with the sender from inside the envelope.
