The last time someone sent me a document to sign on Docusign, the system made me create an account - though I already had an account. There were errors, but because the document was created by someone else, I couldn’t correct them. I have a professional name and a legal name. This document had to be signed with my professional name.
One of the mistakes was that the document contained my legal name. I emailed the other party and asked them to correct the document. They did, but now, because my account was created using my legal name, Docusign kept auto populating the corresponding signature - though that was no longer the name/info on the document.
Second problem is that the signature always comes through teeny tiny with no way to control its size - unlike say markup in PDF.
Third problem is that the Docusign authenntication header covered/masked the top line of the document making it unreadable.
The addition of that header also threw off the pagination so that the information at the foot of the document now appeared as a single line on a second page which rendered the document unusable because I needed to have a copy of the document to forward to a third party.
I finally just asked the document creator to email me a pdf so I could sign it and send it back.
For me Docusign presents too many problems to be worth the effort.
Thanks.
Hey
Welcome to the Docusign Community! I'm sorry to hear about your experience, and thank you for taking the time to share it. Rest assured, I’m here to help.
Let’s tackle the problems you encounter.
If the system asked you to create an account even though you already have an existing account is due to either the sender might have a setting that requires recipients to create a DocuSign account, even if they already have one or If you have multiple DocuSign accounts (e.g., a free account and a corporate account), the system might route you to the oldest account or a different one than intended. If you continue to have trouble, contact the sender and ask them to check their account settings or resend the envelope.
When the document has been corrected to be your professional name, the system will give you an option to adopt another signature based on what name shows on the envelope or you have the option to choose your signature as for your professional name under saved signature or if you haven't saved signature for your professional name you may go to Manage Profile>Signature>Add Signature> then write your professional name and your initials then Create to adopt signature for the intended name successfully.
You can update your signature in your profile or during a signing session. Here’s a step-by-step guide to walk you through it: Update your signature.
Heads up: there are a few scenarios where signature changes aren’t allowed, like if:
- You're signing on mobile
- It's an in-person signing session
- Digital/Universal signatures are required (like CFR Part 11)
- The sender has locked the recipient's names
- You don’t have an active Docusign account
The document is too big, and the signature field still looks too small. Please view the following article: Fields appear too small when tagging and sending an envelope.
If the signature is looking pixeled, I recommend you take a look at the pixels for your signatures on the Signature Adoption Configuration under Settings > Signing Settings: Minimum Pixel Size
Note: Some advanced features and options are supported only in specific DocuSign plans. Your account plan might not support some of the options discussed in this help topic. Contact your account administrator for more information about which options are available for your account. Or, visit our Plans and Pricing web page for more details on the features included with your plan.

We're glad to hear that you can contact the sender. If you are the recipient and have issues with the envelope, we highly recommend contacting the sender for a fix.
Let us know if you hit any snags—we’re happy to help.
