i can't change my signature and initials on a document

I am sorry to hear that your signature is not being applied as expected, but I will gladly help you correct the issue as soon as possible. 

The envelope sender can edit the size of your field, by dragging the blue dot at its corner. However, in my experience, if they upload a file to DocuSign, and their fields appear very small, then the cause is likely one of the following:

• The resolution of the uploaded file
• The page size of the uploaded file

If the problem is not related to the fields in the document, but to the signature you adopted. As long as the envelope in question is related to your active DocuSign user and your action has not been completed, you will be able to change your signature after it was applied by left-clicking it and selecting "Change". 

Also, you are able to update your adopted signatures in Manage Profile>Signatures.

If the option to change your signature is not present, then you are most likely facing one of the scenarios mentioned below:

• You do not have an active DocuSign Account
• You are signing using:
  • DocuSign mobile apps
  • In Person Signing Session
  • Digital Signatures/Universal Signatures (CFR part 11, etc.)
  • Sign and Return
• Sender has locked recipients names

I have a similar problem. I’ve accidentally drawn a full signature in the “initials” field. Now it is too big. I want to change it but I can’t.

The context is:

 - I’ve never used DocuSign before

 - I’ve received the link to the document via mail.

 - I’ve started to fill out the form. My name was pre-filled and I have drawn my intials (wrongly).

 - After realizing that I can’t change it (no change box appears after left click) I have created an account (with the same mail adress). I did NOT submit the form yet.

 - I’ve added a correct signature and initials to my account.

 - However the document is not related to the account so I cannot use them.

What can I or the person that created the document do in order to fix this?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

In your case I would recommend reaching out to the sender, so they can try deleting your recipient role in the signing order, or recreate the envelope, if you have already completed your action.

Trying to sign a document, but only initials are entered in signature box.  I tried clicking left and right to change to signature, but will not change, only initials can be entered.  Nothing works.  Accessed my account to “chose” signature, nothing, cleared cache in computer, no change.  

Unable to change initial in document despite changing signature in the profile.

What a head ache. I accidentally forgot to put my middle initial on the document and now I have realized that every time i try to change the initial the older initial is still sitting in the document and it will not change no matter what. 

It is so frustating.

This is honestly quite ridiculous. For a platform whose sole purpose is to make it easy to sign documents and get them signed, I cannot comprehend the decision to make it impossible to change your initials or signature after setting it once. 

It's frustrating for me, who needs to sign, to first click every button in the interface to try and reach the initials window again, to then have to Google it to land here. Only for Docusign to say that I need to ask the other party to create a new "envelope".

And it's annoying for the other party as well, who now needs to perform a manual action to allow me to fix my mistake. 

All we need is way to either reach the initials configuration window again or to just reset the document for yourself. Is that really too much to ask for?

I was sent a document, set my signature and initial, then needed to change it. There’s no way to do it. This is the most basic functionality of DocuSign! I then spent an hour in your support documentation and with a person on your chat, who had no idea what I was trying to do. All of your support documentation seems to assume you are a paid user. All this talk of “envelopes” which a new free user has no idea about. Why is it so hard to find an answer to such a basic question? In the end, this thread is the only place I eventually found that the answer is no. Even if you go to the trouble of signing up and following all the support documentation about changing your signature in your profile, this has no effect on that original document! What a waste of time!

Can you please create a support article that is plainly for free users trying to change their signature after setting it, and clearly state that this is impossible. Then list the steps for contacting the sender so they can make whatever changes are necessary on their end. It will save many people hours of their time.

I had the same issue just now. I believe this is a gitch and needs to be fixed. I had to sign with a generic DocuSign provided signature instead of the signature that I uploaded because it would not allow me to change the signature. I had others signing after me and could not print out the document and sign in wet ink.
