When setting up a DocuSign package, it tries to guess/autofill the Signatures...how do I turn this off?
the recipient without account can set first time, and with account can add and manage Signature, please reference this document:

Thanks but what I am looking for is when I am creating a package and select the emails it is going to..then click next...at this stage DocuSign is trying to guess where it needs to be signed and by which email.
Another way is that when I click next I automatically see the colour blocks without having selected myself.
I find this dangerous as it is probable it has guessed incorrectly and I would prefer it not to do this.
I hope I am explaining the ok. Hard to put down in words
Hello
Thanks for reaching out, and a warm welcome to the Docusign Community! From what I understand, the system automatically suggests fields when sending an envelope based on its interpretation of where it needs to sign. We apologize for any inconvenience caused, and let's work together to sort this out. I just have a few questions:
- Are you using a template? It could be the fields assigned to the recipient roles already saved in the Template. (Note: The fields are color-coded per recipient), or an Autoplace set in the template - a feature that enables the automatic placement of fields in a document or template based on a specified string of text. Article: Add Fields Automatically with AutoPlace
- Is the issue happening when you create an envelope without a template? Start an envelope > Upload a document > Add recipient > Manually place fields.
- If you use a template that does not contain any Personal Identifiable Information, can you download and share it here? Here's how to download the Template: Download Templates or share screenshots concealing Personally Identifiable Information here.
If I've misunderstood anything, please don't hesitate to reply here with more context. I look forward to hearing back from you. Thank you!

Hi Melanie,
thanks for reaching out. I am not using a template. It happens every time.
Step 1. Start.
Step2. Add a document and add recipients and click next.
Step 3. Docusign guesses where the recipients should sign (and other fields like date etc)….it is 80%+ wrong in its guesses so i would like to turn it off (a) to save me the time of having to go through and delete all of these before I even start and (b) to stop the operational risk of accidentally sending the document with the wrong person signing the wrong field.
Hi - I had a call from DocuSign support and the way to turn this off is
Click on Admin at the top of the screen.
Then click on “Sending Settings” on the left of the screen
Then untick the “Enable field Assist for senders” box
