I want to make it so that the default is to allow recipients to edit an envelope as opposed to having to check the box in the “advanced settings” each time an envelope is sent. I don’t want everyone at my company to have to remember to check that box every time they send something. I swear I remember Docusign having this feature, but I cannot find it anywhere in the settings nor on any forum posts.

At this time, DocuSign does not support enabling (recipients can edit document) by default for all senders at the account level. This feature must be manually selected in the Advanced Options each time an envelope is sent.

However, if you're using a template, you can pre-enable it within the template. This allows senders to bypass manual configuration for each envelope, as the option will already be active when the template is used.

We understand this may not be ideal for all workflows. If enabling “Allow recipients to edit documents” by default would benefit your organization, we encourage you to submit a request on our Ideas page ( https://community.docusign.com/ideas), where we collect feedback and suggestions to guide future product improvements.
