I have received a Document to Sign, but when I click sign, it applies an old signature I had 5 years ago. I need to change that signature. I went to my account, added a new signature and deleted the old one.
But when I open again that document to sign I have only available the deleted signature, and I cannot access the new one (that is the only signature I have now, actually).
If I click on the signature I don’t have the option to change it.
What can I do to sign it with the signature I choose?
Hello
Thank you for reaching out here in Docusign Community.
Follow the steps provided in the link below on how to delete the signature on your account and do not add a new signature yet.
Change your signature or adopt a custom signature
Once the signature is deleted, try accessing the envelope and see if this allows you to select or change your signature.

Hi
As I explained on my previous message, I don’t have the option to change the signature and I deleted all my signatures on my account and the document still has a “preloaded”? signature that I cannot change in any way.
I do have an active Docusing account
I am not using Docusign mobile apps.
I am not using In Person Signing Session.
I am not using Digital Signatures/Universal Signatures
I am not using Sign and Return
The only thing stated on that tutorial is that sender has locked recipients' names. I’ve asked the sender to change that if they are doing it, but didn’t receive an answer on their part. I see they “fixed” something on the document (looking at the document history) but it’s still the same.
When I click sign on the document’s button, it adds a signature that is not in my account.
For example: I have signature A and B in my account, but the document only allows me to use a signature C that I don’t know where it get it from. Even if I delete signatures A and B and I leave NO signature on my account, it stills only let me sign with signature C.
I tried opening the document from the email button or from inside my Docusign account with the same outcome.
Hello
Try going back to your account under Manage Profile > Signatures > Actions > Delete the current saved signatures and do not save or keep a new one.
Once completed, try accessing the envelope and see if this will allow you to sign it using a new signature but if this still keeps the signature you deleted, please reach out to the sender and request to correct the envelope and if they can add an extra spaces on your name in the envelope.

Hello
I already did the deletion of my signatures, as I explained on my previous messages in this thread. I also asked the sender to add extra spaces on my name on the envelope.
None of these worked. Docusign is still adding a signature from nowhere and doesn’t allow me to change it (I can create new ones but I cannot use them on the envelope).
I asked the sender to use a different name for myself and also to send it to a different e-mail account. I am still waiting for that but every solution proposed here or in FAQ or in any of your tutorials didn’t work.

Fede

I am having this same issue, I followed all of the steps and still getting no where.
Hello
Thank you for reaching out, and welcome to the Docusign Community! We are thrilled to have you here and look forward to sharing as much knowledge as we can.
I see that your old signature still appears when signing and when you said you already followed the above steps, I assumed you have already updated your signature from your Docusign Account. I truly apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I understand how important it is to show the correct signature, and I am here to help you gladly.
Please try the steps below for changing the signature:
- Navigate to the document you are signing.
- Select the adopted signature in the document and select Change.

Please note that there are specific instances when the option to change your signature will not be accessible. The exceptions and resolutions are outlined below:
- Make sure you have an active Docusign account. If you do not have an account at the time of signing, you cannot change your selected signature. See the Sign Documents for Free article to learn about getting a Docusign account.
- Check with the sender to ensure that the recipient name is not locked. Some senders lock recipient names.
- When you self-sign documents using the Sign a Document feature, you cannot select a saved signature. This occurs when you self-sign documents and do not send envelopes to other signers.
To change your signature for a document you are self-signing, you must send yourself an envelope and add yourself as the only recipient. Using this method, you can optionally select another saved signature.
- Make sure you are not trying to change your signature when:
- Using Docusign Mobile App for Android or Mobile App for iOS.
- Using in-person signing as described in the In person signing article.
- There are digital or universal signatures. See the Digital Signatures/Universal Signatures article (for situations described in the Sign Part 11 Module Enabled Documents article.)
- The document you're signing originated from an account on another server (cross site).
- The document was signed and returned.

You can also contact the sender to correct the envelope > remove your name and email, and manually type your name the same as your name from your saved signatures from your profile > Resend. Article: Correct an Envelope
