Is it possible to add some additional roles. 

In the instance of the way I am using the tool for the signing of documents it would be really useful if I could allow the first point of contact to review and comment.

On their approval I would like it to flow to the signer to actually sign off the document. 

Then for another role to be added that sends only the completed document to another contact for their reference and record keeping. 

Currently I am setting the first person as a viewer, then a signer and the third is in CC. 

But the first person is viewing and before they get a chance to comment or approve the document is signed. The third person is getting too much information.

I understand you would like to set up a workflow that would allow the first recipient with the Docusign Viewer recipient role to review/approve and add a comment. Absolutely, here to help!

  • First, instead of the Docusign viewer, you can change the first recipient's role to Needs to Sign, then assign the Approve or Decline field. Note that the Decline field, when selected by the signer, will automatically void the envelope. You can also add a text field for the first recipient to add comments, or they can use the Comment icon during signing. Heads up: Clicking Approve or Decline automatically finishes the signing process, so please ensure the first recipient adds a comment before clicking Approve or Decline
  • Next, it's important to specify the recipient order. With the Set signing order enabled, you can control the sequence of recipient actions. This ensures the first recipient approves the document before the second signer receives it.
  • Finally, once all prior steps are completed, the third recipient will receive the completed envelope. For more information about the Signing order and Approve/Decline fields, please refer to our resources.
