Hello,

We had several in process envelopes that were waiting signers. During this time we turned on the Attach Documents to Completed Envelope setting and manually corrected the envelopes to include a CC. However, we are noticing that once the in process documents (that were started before the setting was turned on and it was corrected to include a carbon copy recipient), that the attachments are not in the email. How do we correct this?

This setting will only apply to envelopes that were created after the setting has been changed, as the information is part of the meta data attached to the envelope itself. Therefore, changing the setting does not affect “in process” envelopes.

If the total size of all files exceeds 5 MB they will not be attached to the completion email, even if you selected the “Attach Documents to Completed Envelope”. If enabled, the size of the Certificate of Completion will count to the 5 MB limit too.

Is there anyway to retroactively attach the documents to the completed emails? We have over 200 in process forms that will be completed and not have the attachments.

This change only affects new envelopes created after the setting is applied, it is not possible to retroactively attach the documents to be included in the completion emails of in process envelopes.

While attaching documents to completion emails can be convenient, be aware that many companies disable this feature due to data privacy concerns. We recommend consulting your internal departments to ensure your Docusign eSignature configuration aligns with your company's policies.
