Question

Disable KBA in Developer Account

Forum|alt.badge.img

Hello -

We are working within the developer account currently. I have tried to remove the KBA reqiurement from the signers. When I open the document they are still there. I can only change the KBA to Phone or back to KBA.

I have tried to remove it via the ADMIN panel and I am not able to do so either.

We have no need to use the KBA. Is there any possible way to remove this in the developer account.

We send out all of our documents via API.

Thank you

Hi @jatfdds !

KBA (or other recipient authentication method) is not mandatory to send envelopes using demo environment, unless you have enabled authentication as 100% mandatory, or your API call is passing the KBA parameters as required.

My first recommendation to you is to check on your eSignature Admin > Security Settings > Recipient Authentication Settings and check if option 2 called “The sender can require that a recipient must authenticate on any envelope sent from this account” is selected (this is the default option). If the first option is enabled (“Any recipient must authenticate on every envelope sent from this account”,) it means you’re requiring at least one authentication for all your recipients (and the KBA is one of the first auth options).

My second recommendation is to check if your get envelope creation API call has the Auth Params as required. Check the following article to get more information: How to require knowledge-based authentication (KBA) for a recipient

Let me know if I could help you with your question!

Hello @jatfdds,

Thank you for reaching out, and a warm welcome to the Docusign Community! We are absolutely delighted to have you here and can't wait to share our knowledge with you.

I understand the challenges of removing the Knowledge-Based Authentication requirement for the signers and the need for help removing KBA from the Developer account. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused, and rest assured that I'll make my best effort to help you.

Since the choice are KBA and Phone Authentication, then it suggests the issue is that the account itself is enforcing Recipient Authentication. To confirm, is the goal to enforce Phone Authentication only (and never use KBA)? Or do you want the option not to use recipient authentication on a given envelope?

If the request is to disable only the KBA, the account Administrator can open a Support case for this request. However, it can no longer be re-added or reactivated later on that account. So, if you ever change your mind, you'd need a new account to regain that functionality. If the request is only to allow an envelope not to use recipient authentication/disable recipient authentication as a whole (Phone Authentication, SMS Authentication, or Knowledge-Based), you can change the Recipient Authentication settings under Admin > Security Settings > Recipient to make it optional. Please see your options here: Authentication Settings

To open a support case in the Docusign Support Center, go to the "Get Support" section and select "Open a Support Case.” Log in using your Docusign credentials and select a case subject. If you have multiple Docusign accounts, choose the appropriate account to continue. Open a case in the Docusign Support Center
