I’ve noticed problems with the way that corrections are treated in docusign. I’ve noticed this on both sides of the process actually; both as a signer and the creator of a contract. When a document is corrected it is not being resent to the recipients regardless of whether or not they have already signed. In researching the issue it seems that docusign is not supposed to resend to someone who is only set to “receive a copy” which seems silly to me. Our agreements are with the end user of our product and the general contractor sometimes doesn’t need to sign but they are not receiving an updated copy of the contract which is a problem for us. Wondering if others experience is the same and how it is being dealt with. thank you !
Hello
Thank you for reaching out to the Docusign Community! We're grateful for your question and happy to share our knowledge!
We understand your question about how Correcting and Resending works for your use case. We'd like to recognize your effort in researching this, and I am more than glad to clarify how Docusign handles notifications when you correct or resend an envelope.
- When you correct an envelope in Docusign, a new notification is sent only to the outstanding recipients whose turn it is to sign, and only if the correction involves modifying recipient information. If your corrections do not change any recipient details, no new notifications are sent. If a routing order is in place, recipients later in the sequence will not receive notifications until it's their turn to sign.
FAQ: Correcting Envelopes in Docusign
- Resending the envelope generates an email notification only for the outstanding recipients who are expected to sign.
Resend Envelopes
- If a recipient is only a Carbon Copy recipient, you are only providing a copy of an agreement to someone who just needs to be carbon copied, with no actions to sign needed. Therefore, they will not receive notifications for either correction or resends. When you add carbon copy recipients to any point in the signing order, they only receive a copy of the documents with whatever signatures or other information that have already been completed by any prior recipients.
Carbon Copy a Recipient on an Envelope
To ensure the carbon copy recipients receive the most updated copy, you can set a signing order to your workflow where the carbon copy recipient is the last in the signing order. Set a Signing Order | Set Signing Order and View the Order Diagram
All recipients, including the carbon copy recipient, will receive a completion notification email. The sender also has the option to attach the final document to this email by enabling 'Attach documents to completion email' from Admin > Signing Settings > Envelope Delivery.
