When uploading a Word document for signature, the default PDF Document properties for Windows Options - Show is Document Title. Is there a way to make the default File Name?

Thanks in advance.

Hello @vmadrid

Thank you for reaching out here in Docusign Community.

DocuSign doesn’t have a configuration or account setting to force the “Show file name” property in the generated PDFs the “Show” option is controlled by the viewer application (like Adobe Acrobat) and not embedded in the file.

After some research. I found a workaround that you may try to check and see if it helps you.

1. Clear or edit the Title property before upload (Word level)

  • Open your Word document.Go to File → Info → Properties → Advanced Properties → Summary tab.
  • Clear or edit the Title field.
  • Save, then upload to DocuSign again.
  • The generated PDF will then either have no title (so viewers default to showing the file name) or show your custom text.

2. Change the viewer behavior (Windows level)

  • In Adobe Acrobat or Reader:
  • Edit > Preferences > Documents > Open Settings →
  • Uncheck “Show document title in the document window”.

This makes all PDFs show the file name instead, but it’s a per-user viewer setting, not a DocuSign setting.
