Can I send a document that doesn't require a signature? We just want to trace that the envelope was delivered and opened.

I understand that you are looking for an option to allow your recipients to complete their envelope by opening and reviewing the documents in it, and I will gladly share more details on the available options to set this up.

The easiest way to approach this scenario would be to assign the "Needs to View" recipient action to your recipient role.

This option will only require the recipient to access the envelope in order to complete it.

It's also important to note that this feature must be enabled by an account administrator before it is available during the envelope creation workflow.

Note: Some advanced features and options are supported only in certain DocuSign plans. Your account plan might not support some options discussed in this help topic.

As an alternative, you could use the "Needs to Sign" action and assign a field other than a signature (date signed, text box, etc...).

Thank you for this! I was able to get "Needs to View" added to my account - however, using that option seems to disallow me creating a Template and Bulk Send to fill in fields (similar to a mail merge). Any suggestions? Thank you!

Thank you for following up.

If you are looking to still use fields in your document, you are welcome to use the Needs to Sign recipient action without placing any signature fields on the document.

Any field in the document that is completed at the end of the signing session will trigger the envelope to be completed as usual.
