We understand you are looking for advice on Bulk Sending configuration, and we’re here to provide guidance and clarity.

Optional/Conditional routing would require the recipient's information to be entered ahead of time. In your use case, you'd have to use an Agent Managed Role at some point in the process to address additional recipients. Unfortunately, this is not supported in Bulk Send. The intent behind Bulk Sending envelopes is to streamline them into simple agreements that are automatically routed to a predetermined number of recipient roles.
Agent Managed roles, in this case— Specify Recipients, when one of these roles is included, you can leave information for signers in subsequent signing roles blank, with the intention of a specific recipient filling in the remaining details. See  Manager Recipients

The important note is that the Managed Role selected needs to be appropriate for your business use. Specify Recipient roles are specifically allowed to enter missing details, where Update Recipients and Allow To Edit give a higher level of control, including adding/removing additional recipients, up to correcting the overall agreement as if they were the envelope sender.

Furthermore, if you have access to Powerforms or Maestro, you can explore non-bulk options that give varying degrees of control for this situation. You are also welcome to provide feedback and suggestions for our development team's consideration for potential implementation. You can share this on our Ideas board: Submit a feature request. That’s where ideas from Docusign users like you can submit ideas to improve DocuSign’s features, and where you can also vote on ideas from other members.

Hi Melanie,

Thanks for getting back to me and for the detailed explanation. My challenge was that I needed to send envelopes to about 300 recipients with customized data, which was difficult to manage without the bulk tool.

I was able to create a Power Automate workflow that will run and send the 300 individual envelopes with customized tags, which allowed me to avoid using Bulk Send and the limitations you outlined.

I really appreciate your guidance and pointing me toward the available options — it helped me think through an alternative approach that worked well in this case.
