I just want to send one document to several recipients for them to sign.  Why do I have to put a sign field for each recipient and not just send the one document to several recipients?

Hello @Cheri

Thank you for reaching out, and welcome to the Docusign Community! We appreciate your question and assure you that we are fully committed to providing you with the best service possible.

Using freeform signing, you can send your recipients an envelope without any fields. Please take a look at the article below. Thank you.

Use Freeform Signing

Use Freeform Signing to add information to the document using the menu on the left side of the page. The menu has a list of fields that you can use to add signatures, initials, and other information to the document. Drag the signature and information tags to the document.

Screenshot of the Freeform signing menu.

Note the following:

  • When adding a signature, initial or other information to a document, drag the appropriate field (such as Signature, Initial, Date Signed) from the palette. Place the field onto the location in the document where you want the field to display.
  • When you place a Signature or Initial field, you are asked to adopt your signature and initials. See the Adopt Your Signature article for more information.
  • You can modify prefilled information as needed. The Name, First Name, Last Name, Email Address, organization and Title fields use pre-filled information based on what the sender enters for you
  • The Date Signed field uses the current date.
  • When you need to add text in the document, drag a Text field onto the document. After placing the Text field, you can type information directly into it. You might must resize the Text field to have all the information fit.
  • The Checkbox field places a checked box on the document.

Note: After placing your first field, FINISH becomes active. However, continue to place fields to complete the documents before selecting FINISH.

To manage fields:

  • Reposition a field by dragging it to a new location.
  • Resize a field by selecting it and then dragging the corner of the field to change the size.
  • Remove a field from the document by selecting it and then selecting the delete icon on the field.

After you have placed all the fields on the document, select FINISH to complete signing.

For more information, see the Complete the Signing Session article.
