Unable to correct envelopes

Since two weeks I get the following message when I want to correct an envelope: 'The envelope was sent wihtout digital signature. The signature type cannot be corrected'.

I then have to invalidate the envelope and send a copy....

I have never had this and have not tinkered with my settings. Where does this message come from and how do I turn it off?
