Hi All - One of our departments regularly has to send two documents out to the same signer but we want to track them separately through the workflow.  Is there a way to send the first one for signature and then add the second document onto that envelope within the workflow so both are tracked? I know that we could download one and attach it and then upload it as a signed copy to complete the workflow out but I am hoping for a better process than that.

I had thought of just combining them into a single document but one of them is Word and the other is .pdf with a lot of customization and ‘insert object’ to try to add the .pdf into the Word doc loses some of the pages.  Any ideas?

Hello @TanyaSestak

Welcome to the DocuSign Community!

I understand you're not looking to combine the documents themselves, but rather best combine document IDs, using C#, but the tracking both separately won't work here. for that you could potentially configure a workflow to:

  • Send the first document,

  • Wait for completion,

  • Then automatically trigger the second envelope with the same signer. This would preserve tracking and avoid manual handling.

Thanks!

Thanks Pawan - but really, we want both contracts to go in the same envelope for esignature once they’ve been approved separately within the workflow as they are going to the same signers.  The other option I thought of was setting the first to send for signature and then downloading the other and attaching it within that first envelope prior to sending and then, once signed, uploading it back to the CLM as a fully executed copy thereby finishing out the workflow for both documents.  I was hoping for something more automated but cannot think of a better way to do that - any other ideas?

If both contracts need to be sent in the same envelope for eSignature, it becomes challenging to track and approve them separately within the workflow, since DocuSign treats an envelope as a single transaction. Once documents are combined into one envelope, individual tracking, approvals, or audit trails for each document aren't maintained separately—they're all part of the same signing process.
