Hello @a.21.kla
Thank you for reaching out, and welcome to the Docusign Community! We appreciate your question and assure you that we are fully committed to providing you with the best service possible.
Phone number fields are for stand-alone web forms only, not those tied to a template/envelope. For your reference, you may check this article: Add or Edit Properties for a Web Forms Phone Number Field.
Your recipients can add a phone number, including the country calling code, to a form. The country calling code is a string of 1, 2, or 3 numeric digits representing the country or region where the phone number is assigned. It displays on the form as a default.
Note: You can add the Phone Number field to a standalone form, but you can't add it to a template-based form.
You can add the Phone Number field and add or edit the country calling code using the following procedure.
- Create a standalone form or select one from the Web Forms list.
- Add the Phone Number field to the web form.

The Phone Number field properties display on the Properties tab.
- Enter a descriptive name in the Field name field.
- Enter a description or instruction in the Field description field. This description displays on the field. For example:

- To make the field Required, select the Required field toggle.
The Required field changes color and an asterisk (*) displays on the Phone Number field in the center panel. Make the field optional by selecting Required field again. The asterisk disappears.
- To make the field read only, select the Read Only toggle.
- Select a default country calling code for the Phone Number field, if necessary. For example, the country code for the United States is "+1". At the Default value field:
- Select the down-arrow in the field.
- In the Search field, begin typing the country name to select the country calling code.
The default country calling code is saved to the web form. If necessary, the recipient can modify it when they complete the form.
- Save the web form.

How do I connect the phone number field on my webform to my template?
Hello @a.21.kla
Instead of using the Phone number field in your template, you may use the Number field or the Text field on the right-click “validation”, click the dropdown, and click custom. This will let you enter a line of code.
Here is the code for the phone number.
^(\\(<0-9]{3}\\)|]0-9]{3}-)-0-9]{3}-00-9]{4}$

The recipient connections under the webform require it to be a phone number field type, but the template does not allow for it. How can I map my webform phone number field to both recipient connections and the template without having to add two phone number fields?
Hello @a.21.kla
Have you tried editing your template and using either the “Text” or “Number” field before uploading it to the webform?
