We're having issues with automatically applying a template to an envelope, in order to anchor the signature, initials and date fields in the signed document.

We're using Docusign with Salesforce integration to send documents for signature; however these documents are generated by OmniStudio in Salesforce, not by DocuSign.

When defining a DocuSign Envelope Template in Salesforce, the first step is to select or upload documents. Here we're not uploading any document, and we're selecting instead "Attach documents from Salesforce instead", with document selected as "Latest Document". The rest of the envelope is configured with recipients (roles, signing order, etc), reminder options, no merge fields. etc.

In DocuSign, I found the template that matches my Envelope Template in salesforce (I confirmed by looking at the template Id in Docusing, and it matches the one in my SF envelope), and uploaded a document to it. I included white text containing 25 unique words in header and footer (to ensure template  match), and added anchor tags like /s1/, /d1/, /i1/, etc. On top of that, I edited the document inside DocuSign to automatically adjust the position of the signature, date and initials in relation to the tags before. I also went to my settings, and selected to auto-match templates when they are a higher match than 80%.

When I finally generate a document (with OmniStudio) and send it with DocuSign, the recipient receives the document with no signature anchors, so has a fields panel on the left, to drag and drop signature, initials and signing date elements into whatever place in the document.

Other than that, it works fine: documents are sent for signatures, recipients are picked up correctly, in the right order, etc. but there's no way for me to anchor the fields.

Two tests that I've done: if on an already sent document, the recipient (signer) clicks on "Correct" and manually applies a template, then it will work properly, and my anchor tags will be visible and work.

Second test: if, when configuring the envelope template in Salesforce, I do upload a document instead of select sending the last file attached in SF, then I am able to place the anchor tags in the uploaded document while creating the envelope template (it’s part of the wizard to create an envelope). If I send that document, the anchor tags work. If I send ANOTHER document in addition to the one uploaded to the envelope template (so I keep checked "Attach documents from Salesforce instead"), anchor tags ALSO work on that one; but they won’t when sending the attached document alone without a document uploaded to the envelope template iteself.

DocuSign Apps Launcher version installed: 4.0

Thanks a lot in advance!!

Hello @Guillermo.C,

When creating an Envelope Template within Salesforce, you do not need to leverage template matching because the template is automatically applied onClick of the button you just created. I think the issue is how you name the roles of your recipients. Also, I noticed you are using forward slashes for your anchor text and not back slashes.

Here’s an example of my document:

In my Envelope Template, I setup the Documents just like you:

For my Recipients, I happen to be using the Opportunity Contact Roles, but notice how I updated my Template Role to = “Signer 1”:

Whenever I click on the button that was created by my envelope template, I do not need to apply any templates. When I scroll down to my signature page, the fields are added correctly:
