Hello everyone!

I know how to set an expiration date within the DocuSign template or sending process. However, for our business case we need a way to set an exact time. I.e. the offer should not be valid for several days but in most cases only today until x pm. Is it possible to set an exact expiry time?

I'd like to create an integration between Salesforce and Docusign to send expiration date and time information.
I would create a custom field in Salesforce for the Docusign Envelope object and then populate it with the values, send it to Docusign, receive it via a custom field, and send the document with an expiration date and time.

Does this make sense? Is it possible?

If not, what other approach can I take?
Today, just the date doesn't make sense for my client.

Thank you,
Arthur

Hi @CPFLSolucoes,
Welcome to the Docusign Community— we're grateful for your question and happy to share our knowledge!

We understand you're looking for more precise control over expiration settings. At this time, expiration can be configured by date with no option to set an exact time for expiration, nor is there an alternative approach available for this specific functionality.

We love hearing how Docusign could be even more useful. While the exact functionality you're seeking isn’t available at the moment, we have created a space for suggestions and feedback 👉 Submit a feature requestThis is where ideas from Docusign users like you can submit ideas to improve DocuSign’s features and even vote on ideas submitted by other members. We appreciate your input and hope you’ll keep the ideas coming.

Thank you!
I'm glad you got back to me and appreciate you getting in touch.

So I understand that it's not possible to set TIME when sending document expiration, only DAYS.

Is there anything I can do to work around this and provide a solution through Docusign?

Thank you!

Hello @CPFLSolucoes,

You are correct. Unfortunately, there is no built-in functionality or current workaround, even via API, as you would specify a number of days after which the envelope will expire based on the initial sending date. Most of the envelope updates occur, hour-wise, and are server-controlled. We recognize that this feature could be highly beneficial for you, so it's best to submit this as a suggestion. Since the best ideas come from the people who use Docusign every day (in other words, you), we created the Ideas section .

Thank you so much for your time and your response!
Just one last question:
Is it possible that by enabling the Expire/Void Envelope option within Salesforce, which says the envelope needs to expire, it automatically expires the file?

Hi @CPFLSolucoes, you can set how many days after sending an envelope expires. The envelope will be voided when it reaches the expiration period. Note that the setting does not apply retroactively. Here’s a helpful resource with more details: Set Reminders and Expirations
