We are getting the following error:

The error message we are getting is “Error while retrieving the User ID for the following sender ‘kmiller@email.com’: User has not consented to the DocuSign application. Please use the Total Lending Configuration portal to consent.”

Any ideas what we are missing.  We have performed the Admin Consent.

(Note: I modified the email for this post since it’s public)

Hello @Kfort
Thank you for reaching out, and welcome to the Docusign Community! We appreciate your question and assure you that we are fully committed to providing you with the best service possible.

The error message:

“Error while retrieving the User ID for the following sender ‘kmiller@email.com’: User has not consented to the DocuSign application. Please use the Total Lending Configuration portal to consent.”

means that the user (kmiller@email.com) has not granted the required consent for the Docusign application to access their account.

Resolution Steps

  1. Admin Consent vs. User Consent
    • Even if Admin Consent has been performed, individual users may still need to grant consent for the integration if the application is not fully authorized at the organization level.
    • For integrations using JWT/OAuth, organization-wide consent is required for all users to be impersonated by the integration.
  2. How to Grant ConsentThis will allow the application to act on behalf of all users, resolving the "User has not consented" error.
“Administrative consent must be granted at the Organization level to authorize the application to impersonate users within the org... An Organization Admin must perform the following steps: ... Grant Consent.”
Source: How to resolve "CONSENT_REQUIRED" error for an internal application
    • An Organization Admin should log in to DocuSign Admin.
    • Go to Connected Apps.
    • Locate the Laserpro/Total Lending integration.
    • Click Actions > Grant Consent.
    • Select the necessary scopes and confirm.
  3. If Using a Configuration Portal
    • If the error mentions a specific configuration portal (like “Total Lending Configuration portal”), ensure that the consent process is completed there for the affected user(s).

Additional Notes

  • If you have already performed admin consent and still see this error, double-check that:
    • The correct application/integration key was used.
    • Consent was granted for the right environment (production vs. demo).
    • The affected user is part of the organization and not blocked by account or domain restrictions.

Next Steps

  • Have the Organization Admin perform the consent steps above.
  • If issues persist, verify with Laserpro/Total Lending support to ensure their side of the integration is configured to use the correct DocuSign app.
