To sign directly a document with a QES

The DS’ shortcut  Envelope > Sign a Document works only with a SES: Simple Electronic Signature.

It would be useful to use the same path and be able to select the kind of signature. Otherwise, to sign a document by myself with a QES I have to create an envelope and execute the whole process.

Any thoughts?

Hi @Giampaolo,

Thank you for sharing this feedback, and we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you. I’ll be glad to help!

We understand that having the option to select the required signature type directly from the Sign a Document feature would make the signing process more convenient, particularly for users who need a QES.

Currently, the shortcut is limited to the available signing option and is designed to simplify the signing workflow. QES has additional identity, certificate, authentication, and regulatory requirements, and because of these controls, the standard envelope workflow is recommended over the shortcut. This helps ensure that the required qualified-signature processes and security controls are properly applied.

I hope the information provided clarifies.

Hi Noralynn

In Italy the QES is frequently used as well the SES. Right now we consent just the second one waiting for the set up of different types of QES requested by the Italian Laws.

I think that the smart Docusign's features as “Sign a Document” (but “Print to Sign”also) should check if in the tenent other signatures type are enabled and offer these options to the signer.

This should be doable because Docusign do not manage (unfortunately) the signature type by the user profile but with the site configuration.
To be more clear, I'm introducing these tips to the users (“Sign a Document” and “Print to Sign”) and I'm afraid that when we will'introduce the QESs, the users will note the discrepancy about the accessibility of the signatures (a few clicks for the SES and several clicks to apply the QES)
