Restrict Ability to Add Recipients to Template in Advanced Edit

It would be very nice to have the ability to configure templates so that users can delete, replace, and add documents and signing fields and modify or delete recipients without being able to add recipients.

Setting the template to Quick Send Only prevents senders from adding recipients; however, it is then impossible to delete, replace, or add documents to the template or to modify the signing fields. Moreover, once a Quick Send draft is saved, resuming the draft opens directly into Advanced Edit, where the sender is free to add recipients. I also cannot imagine that is the intended behavior.

This is the main hurdle preventing my organization from expanding our usage of Docusign eSignature beyond a handful of document types.

Hi Melanie, it looks like nothing has actually changed since my original post.

The template modification settings combine the permission to edit, add, or remove recipients into the same checkbox option, when our senders need to be able to edit and remove recipients without being able to add them.

When I restrict a template to Quick Send Only, senders are unable to modify the documents, which they need to be able to do. Also, senders can still save their draft and then reopen it in Advanced Edit despite the Quick Send Only setting being toggled on.

Could you please remove the “delivered” status from this idea?

Got it! Thanks for the clarification and added context @arthresher

For now, we’ll be parking this idea, which means it’s not currently planned but may be reconsidered in the future. Thanks for taking the time to share this with us.

In the meantime, you may want to explore template modification settings and recipient modification settings to see if it helps achieve your desired outcome.
