One-time users who forgot they even had a login

I invited a contractor to digitally sign his contract. When the contractor was asked to log in, he insisted that he never had an account. We exchanged several emails back-and-forth. I kept asking him to try the password reminder function to create a new password. Hours later, he must have given it a try, accessed the acct and signed the contract. Perhaps he completely forgot about it.

To avoid this confusion, perhaps Docusign can present a pop-up that says, "You have a Docusign account and must log in to view the envelope. If you forgot your password, use the password reminder link to establish a new one."

If this login is serving as secure access, then I prefer all envelope recipients, even Docusign users, to use an authentication code so everyone has the same experience.

Hi @Maverick,

Thank you for engaging with the Docusign Community and for sharing this idea with us. We are pleased to have you here.

We apologize for the inconvenience the issue has caused you, and we’ll be glad to help you with this.

After review, we found that this request can be accomplished using existing Docusign features. You can configure these settings by navigating to Admin > Security Settings > Login Requirements. This option sets account and login requirements for recipients.

If the recipient or signer has a Docusign account, selecting “Login Required if Signer Has an Account” will prompt them to sign in before accessing the envelope.

Yes, but I had an envelope recipient who denied ever logging into Docusign, so that user did not want to use the password reminder function. I had no way to verify that this person was truly a Docusign user who last logged in X years ago.

That’s why I proposed pop-up or notification to explicitly inform the envelope recipient that they have a Docusign acct and how to gain access if they forgot their password or if they require a new one due to inactivity.

Hi @Maverick,

I appreciate your response and for providing additional clarification.

We understand how you want to proceed with the pop-up or notification to explicitly inform the envelope recipient that they have a Docusign acct and how to gain access if they forgot their password or if they require a new one due to inactivity.

We can confirm that Docusign does not currently offer this specific functionality. However, this is valuable feedback, and I would be happy to convert your request into an idea for our team's future consideration.

Thank you again for sharing your input and helping us improve the Docusign experience!

Best regards,

Yes, another rep suggested that I submit the idea since that function did not exist.
