Enhancement request for metadata to be passed between envelopes when using the Copy button

When you use the copy button it would be valuable to be able to see which envelope the new envelope was copied from. In my opinion, something should tie those envelopes to each other for reference. We can’t find any ties between them even via the API and metadata. It doesn’t show anything in the envelope history or certificate of completion noting that the envelope was copied (yet).

Thanks so much for your idea, ​@Michael.Hoffman! You’re correct, copying an envelope doesn’t currently carry over envelope-level metadata like custom fields. Only documents, recipients, and tab data are copied. 

After review, we found that envelope metadeta can be carried over using existing features. If you need metadata to persist, you’ll need to retrieve it from the original envelope using the EnvelopeCustomFields:list endpoint and reapply it to the new one using EnvelopeCustomFields:create.
