The role of the recipient is determined based on the recipient type. For example, if you select the "Editors" recipient type, this recipient can only edit the envelope. If you select the "Signers" recipient type, this recipient can only sign the envelope. More information about recipient types is here: https://developers.docusign.com/docs/esign-rest-api/esign101/concepts/recipients/

Therefore, if you want the recipient to edit the envelope, select the "Editors" recipient type and send the envelope.

Unfortunately, that's not possible. If you want your recipient to edit part of the document, I suggest using the markup feature. Markup enables signers to negotiate changes to documents. More information about Markup is here: https://support.docusign.com/s/document-item?language=en_US&bundleId=gbo1643332197980&topicId=mtw1578456364136.html&_LANG=enus
