Trim the spaces for first name when document sent from integration

We had an issue wherein the first name had extra spaces causing the signing to not work. Perhaps Docusign can recognize that there are 2 spaces in the name field and trim the extra space.

Btw, the document was sent from an integration.

Hi @ana.sariba11,

Thank you for engaging with the Docusign Community. We are pleased to have you here. We understand how extra space in the first name field can cause issues, particularly when the document is sent through an integration.

We’d be happy to look into this further. Could you please share additional details about the integration and specific signing issues you encountered? You can share a screenshot of how the name field appears after sending (Please do not include any personal information). This will help us better understand the behavior and determine whether there are any available workarounds or recommendations.

I look forward to hearing back from you.

Best regards,

Hello,

From the Docusign API logs:

  1. We see that after sending the document to signature from the integration, the name of the employee is like this: “John__ Doe”

(You can think of of the _ as spaces).

  1. And then when the employee tries to sign, we see that the name changed to “John_ Doe”

Anyway, we see that the source of the problem is HR entered the name mistakenly with spaces from the HR app.

But as a good measure, maybe Docusign can trim these spaces from the get-go on step 1 and 2 and the email matches anyway.

Cheers,

Ana
