I would like to view a document still that was voided and then deleted to see what information was entered in the form fields and potentially shared with another signer. I found an envelope ID for the document in the Document and Envelope Retention Policy, but I cannot locate the actual document itself. How can I view the document? Thank you!

Hello @sara.rosenberger,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Docusign Community—great to have you here!

Regarding your question about viewing a voided and deleted DocuSign document:

  • When a document is voided, it typically remains accessible in your Sent folder with a "VOID" watermark. However, once the document is deleted, it may no longer be accessible.

  • Since you have the envelope ID, you can try accessing the document directly by using this URL format:

    https://app.docusign.com/documents/details/iEnvelopeID]

Replace cEnvelopeID] with the actual ID you found. If the document does not open via this link, it means the document has likely been permanently deleted.

  • Keep in mind that DocuSign’s retention policy may automatically purge deleted documents after a certain period, making recovery impossible.

  • Also note, once a document is voided, it cannot be reactivated, but it should still be viewable with the void watermark if not deleted.

If the document is not in your Deleted folder and cannot be accessed via the envelope link, it has likely been permanently removed and is no longer available for viewing.
