Template Stacking with Different Signing Orders

Hello,

We are trying to stack 3 different templates in one envelope with each template having a different signing order.

Template 1: Officer, Member, Internal Dept

Template 2: VP Officer, Member

Template 3: Member, Internal Dept

When reviewing prior to sending these docs in one envelope, the signing order is duplicating the Internal Dept. Is there a way to avoid duplicates in these cases?

Thanks!

Hello @J.Planalp,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Docusign Community—great to have you here!

When multiple templates are added to the same envelope, any roles that share the exact same name are automatically merged. Since template1 and 3 includes a role called Internal Dept, the system treats them as one recipient, which causes the signing order to duplicate.

The solution is to give each version of that role a unique name so they remain separate in the routing order. Something like Internal Dept 1Internal Dept – Final Review will keep everything clean and prevent the merging behavior.

I hope this helps clarify things! Let us know if you have any further questions

@Jenny.Martin Thank you for the response. In this case, the Internal Department is the same for these templates and after looking at the templates again, the Internal Department is only receiving a copy, no signature required. I forgot to add in my initial question that there was an error received when attempting to send, “The specified envelope has duplicate recipients.”

Is template stacking a realistic option for these documents with the signing order being completely different for each one?

Here is how the signing order shows, which I’m unsure is ideal for the Member to receive it first to sign one document, then again, to sign another document.
