Question

Signing groups with separate witnesses

Essentially, I have several documents to send out to multiple recipients. I need any one of the recipients to sign any of the documents and have the signature witnessed. Signing Groups appears to let me either have multiple recipients where only one signs OR have witnessed signing, but not both. To make things more complicated, only some of the documents require witnessing (though I imagine I would just need to create a separate envelope for the witnessed documents).

Hello @ColinG,

Thanks for reaching out, and welcome to the Docusign Community!

This is actually possible. You can configure a Signing Group recipient and enable eWitness for that same recipient. With this step, any member of the Signing Group can sign, and the witness requirement will apply to whichever member signs. To do this, you can select “Signs with Witness” when configuring the recipient.

If only certain documents require witnessing, it’s best to place them in a separate envelope. By default, a witness recipient can see all documents in an envelope, whether or not they or any other recipients have fields on them.

I hope this helps clarify things! Let us know if you have any further questions
