Is there a possibility in DocuSign to send an envelope back to the sender so they could e.g. delete an uploaded document and resend the envelope after to every signer even if they already signed?

We’re currently working with a workaround, voiding the envelope → copying it → resending it with the changes

Hello @TRettinger
Thank you for reaching out, and welcome to the Docusign Community! We appreciate your question and assure you that we are fully committed to providing you with the best service possible.
At this time, Docusign doesn’t support sending an envelope back to the sender for editing once it has been sent or signed. This is by design to preserve the integrity of the document and any completed signatures.

Here are the available options:
If the envelope is still in progress (not completed):
You can use the Correct feature to update documents or recipients, then resend.
If any recipients have already signed:
The envelope cannot be edited or “returned.” The recommended approach is to:

  • Void the envelope (which cancels it and invalidates signatures)
  • Copy/clone the envelope
  • Make your updates
  • Resend it to all recipients

So your current workaround (void → copy → resend) is actually the expected and recommended process in this scenario.

Void or cancel a Docusign envelope
