QR Code on Doucments

Hi all,

First time here, I have a question on having QR codes on documents we upload to docusign to send out. We use the QR code to hold data about the document so we can easily sort them when they are returned. However, when we upload a document with a QR code it seems like docusign converts it to the literal text or removes it sometimes. Is there something we need to do to keep the QR from changing to text?

What file format are you uploading to Docusign eSignature? If you upload a file, which is not a PDF, it will be converted into a PDF. If the QR code is an image inside of a Word document it should just convert the image and retain it in the PDF. If the QR code was applied differently, e.g. this is a special font, if might be discarded during the conversion as it is not supported.

If you convert the document to a PDF file and upload this to Docusign eSignature, no conversion will take place and it should say unchanged.

As a workaround, you can add yourself as the first recipient and then add a “Drawing” field to the document.  Be sure the default “allow upload” is checked.  Add everyone else as recipients 2 through X.  When you send, you’re first in line and you can upload an image into that Drawing box.  Note: you can’t change the dimensions of the box once you send the envelope, so get that correct before you send.  Also, when you’re placing the Drawing field, use the info pane on the right to make sure your x and y dimensions are the same (assuming you’re doing a square).

@Michael.Rave

We are currently uploading as a PDF. The QR Code is a form field made using adobe acrobat. The data of the QR code updates based on the other form fields in the PDF.

Hi @kthaircocdd,

We hope you are doing well. Do you still need assistance and support? If you are still experiencing the issue, may you please see if flattening the document helps resolve the problem? Here are the steps: How to resolve a document upload error by printing the document to a new PDF
