Hi all

Curious to know if it is possible to solve the following scenario:

Templates are used for various HR-related requests e.g. Request a Travel Ticket; Apply for Parental Leave etc.

I’m wondering if it is possible to use a Template, convert to a PowerForm, and somehow ‘inherit’ a user’s Job Title, Department, Line Manage, or other, to pre-fill a placeholder on a template without having to manually enter. Currently the envelope will route to the initiator to fill in name and email address (it can also be configured to CC to a HR alias), but when eSign is launched and a template invoked, the user must manually fill in details on the template before submitting further.

DocuSign doesn’t support automatically pulling user profile data (like Job Title, Department, or Line Manager) directly into a PowerForm out of the box.

However, here are a couple of options you can consider:

  1. Pre-fill via URL Parameters – If you have access to this data in your system (like from an intranet or HR platform), you can pass values into the PowerForm via URL parameters. This way, fields like Job Title or Department can be auto-filled when the form loads.

  2. Use an Integration – If you're using DocuSign with an identity provider or HR system (like Workday or Active Directory), you could build an integration that pulls user info and pre-fills the envelope before sending.

  3. Custom API Workflow – Using the DocuSign API, you can create a custom interface where users authenticate, their info is pulled automatically, and the envelope is created with the data filled in.

Right now, PowerForms themselves don’t have access to the signer’s metadata unless you provide it at the time the form is launched.
