I have a user who was able to rotate a page of an uploaded PDF document until Jan. 13, 2025. After that date, when she attempted to rotate the page she received the “Document cannot be edited” error message. I have worked through the troubleshooting options I could find with this user and she is still having this issue. Did something change recently that would now be causing this error? Any ideas on how we can resolve this?

Please note that once an action has been taken or the envelope is completed, the envelope can no longer be edited.

Thanks for your reply. This error is occurring during set up, before the envelope has been sent. I tested this myself and I am also seeing the same error.
I upload a document, fill in the routing information and click Next. Then, when I try to rotate the signature page in order to place the signature and date signed fields in the appropriate locations, I receive the “Document cannot be edited” error message.
Has there been a change that now prevents rotating a page in a document before the envelope is sent?

I don't see any report or incident related to this issue. Would you mind trying these steps and check if the issue persists? Just in case we have encounter a possible affectation:
1. Clear the cache and cookies
2. Try a different browser(s)
3. Try an Incognito/in-private window
4. Try a different device
5. Test with different Internet networks such as on a mobile device using data with Wi-Fi disabled.
Also, can you try to use a different documents and see if rotation works fine?

Thanks for your suggestiions. I have tried each of them and the issue still persists. The user who originally reported this issue is in the UK and was having the issue with a PDF from an outside source. I am in the US and tried both PDF and Word documents from internal sources. In each instance, the document is unable to be rotated and the “Document cannot be edited” error displays when hovering over the rotation icon.

This issue appears to have started after the first of this year. I will continue to pursue a solution internally and open case with DocuSign if needed.

As a User - I used to have the option to rotate the document prior to yesterday - the option has gone away with a newer version of Docu-Sign -

How can I get this functionality back?

As a user, I also have lost this functionality, along with others in my organization. This is a feature I use very regularly. What is the timeline for restoring this functionality?

It seems enabling Standards-Based Signatures is what is stopping us from using the rotate feature.
As of the moment, accounts with Standards-Based Signatures enabled won’t be able to use rotate, and we don’t have an update yet on whether they will allow this in the future.
We suggest to rotate the document first before uploading it.
