Question

No method of changing my esignature works

I have a free docusign account I’ve had for years.  I received a document to sign and imported a signature written on an 8.5x11 sheet.  Sent it back.

It cannot be accepted because the actual signature is too small.

So, I need to change my signature.  I cropped it down and am trying to import the cropped signature.  Nothing works.

Within the document I need to sign, neither left clicking or right clicking brings up the “EDIT MENU”

So, I go to my account.  I log in, and go to my “MANAGE PROFILE”.  No signatures show up.  Only name, address, etc.  I go to my profile and click on “SETTINGS” and there’s nothing there about a signature either.

HOW DO I CHANGE MY SIGNATURE???

I would be glad to delete my account and open a new one, but I didn’t see the option of doing that except for the 15 day trial.  I’m an individual.  I don’t need to pay to sign documents.  I shouldn’t have to go to all this trouble to esign documents.

On the “Why Can’t I Change My Signature” section of the docusign web page it says…...

There is certain scenario where you cannot change your signature. Follow these steps to determine why you can't change your signature:

  • Make sure you have an active Docusign account. If you do not have an account at the time of signing, you cannot change your selected signature. See the Sign Documents for Free article to learn about getting a Docusign account.  I have an active account and I can’t even change my signature within that account.
  • Check with your account administrator to ensure that your recipient name is not locked. Some senders lock recipient names.  I’ll ask them, but I don’t have a clue what this is.  I suspect they don’t either.
  • When you self-sign documents using the Sign a Document feature, you cannot select a saved signature. This occurs when you self-sign documents and do not send envelopes to other signers.

To change your signature for a document you are self-signing, you must send yourself an envelope and add yourself as the only recipient. Using this method, you can optionally select another saved signature.  I’m not self signing my own document.  I guess that’s what it means.

  • Make sure you are not trying to change your signature when:
    • Using Docusign Mobile App for Android or Mobile App for iOS.  Nope.  I’s using a windows 11 desktop.
    • Using in-person signing as described in the In person signing article/.  I think i understand what this is, and I’m not doing this.
    • There are digital or universal signatures. See the Digital Signatures/Universal Signatures article (for situations described in the Sign Part 11 Module Enabled Documents article.)  WHAT???  IS this supposed to make sense without having to study what this means for an hour?
    • The document you're signing originated from an account on another server (cross site).  Again, I don’t know what server its on, but I assume the sender is using a docusign server.
    • The document was signed and returned.  I did sign it and return it, but not before I tried to change my signature because I thought the small one might be a problem.  I couldn’t change my signature before I returned it, so I returned it with the tiny signatures.  After they said it couldn’t work, the sender sent me a blank document without those signatures on it, and I still can’t change my signature.

HELP!!!!!!  Nothing should be this complicated.

@Bryanstein

It sounds like the sender may have locked you out of changing your signature. The sender would need to change this setting.
